Boomers & Their Parents

family-readingHow do you honor your aging parent’s wish to remain at home, while you still get some peace of mind?

Age @ Home Elder Care Management helps adult children of aging parents by evaluating their loved one’s needs, then recommending the most appropriate, available and cost-effective services.

For long-distance caregivers, Age @ Home provides ongoing supervision of the aging parent and communication with the family. This helps avoid frequent and costly trips back to San Diego.

Here’s what we will do:

  • Assess safety issues and fix them.
  • Do all assessments in the client’s home.
  • Conduct a full bio-psycho-social-spiritual evaluation.
  • Hire professional caregivers if needed.
  • Prepare a care plan custom-tailored to the situation.

Things to check for when visiting the folks:

  • Frequent falls or unexplained bruises.
  • Problems taking medications as prescribed.
  • Bizarre or deviant behavior.
  • Getting lost while driving or walking.
  • Driving erratically.
  • Extreme suspiciousness.
  • Loss of interest in social activities and social isolation.
  • Neglecting to pay bills or cash checks.
  • A kitchen or bedroom fire.
  • Not eating properly or regularly.
  • Abusing alcohol or drugs.
  • Confusion, poor judgment or increased forgetfulness.
  • New balance or mobility problems and refusal to use a cane or walker.
  • Health complaints and symptoms, but refusal to see a doctor.
  • One spouse overwhelmed or in poor health caring for a dependent spouse.

If you notice any of these conditions, contact Age @ Home before things get worse. Trust us, ignoring little problems will just lead to bigger ones. The time to act is before a crisis, when you and your parent have a lot more options.
